PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING
Dear Coyote Families,
Did you know that there is an elected group at our school that works with the principal and teachers to determine how state funds will be spent to improve the academic success of our students? It is called the School Site Council (SSC). The Site Council is the principal’s advisory group and is pivotal in determining actions and making budget decisions to help students.
Meetings are held on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30pm. This year, meetings will be Dec. 8th, Jan. 19th, March 2nd, and Apr. 20th, with an additional meeting added in May if needed to finalize the site plan and budget. Please complete this form if you are interested in serving on the School Site Council this year.
There is no school on Monday September 7 for the Labor Day holiday. Enjoy the three day weekend with your children and we will see you on Tuesday!
Warmly,
Jen
CORNELL ANNOUNCEMENT
Tardies/Early Pickups > 30 minutes
If the reason for the tardy/early pickup is a healthcare appointment for the student, please ask the provider for a school excuse note and either email the note (cornellattendance@ausdk12.org) or bring it to the office within 5 school days so we can remove the ‘O’ code. We can only excuse tardies/early pickups for the student that the appointment was for.
* > 30 minute pickup
TK/K before 1:00 pm
1st-5th before 1:15 pm Wednesdays/minimum days, and before 2:35 pm all other days
Lost & Found
We are only 18 days into school and already we have a lot of items on the lost and found rack! If your student has lost something, please ask them to take a minute to check the lost and found area in the central hallway of the main building.

CORNELL LIBRARY CORNER
Weekly Library Spotlight
The library is in full swing these days! TK students started visiting the library during their class time and enjoyed Drew Daywalt’s silly book, Little Freddie Two Pants (The Dog With Too Many Pants). It was fun to hear the library filled with their laughter and see their excitement in our special library space!

Kinder-5th students had their first Digital Citizenship lesson this week. We use Common Sense Media’s Digital Literacy & Well-Being Curriculum that covers the following main concepts:

The focus is on understanding technology and developing healthy, balanced habits when it comes to its use.

The library needs volunteers for this school year. If you are interested in helping out weekly or biweekly and would like to learn more, please fill out this interest form and I’ll be in touch.
