| PRINCIPALLY SPEAKING |
Dear Coyote Families,
Thanks for another great week! It’s been a delight to get to know your children. In most classrooms, routines have been established and everyone has gotten to know each other, and now students are diving into beginning of the year assessments and academic lessons. I’m excited for all the learning and growth your children will experience this year.
On Thursday August 27, 6-7pm we will host our annual Back to School Night. Please gather at the blue tables at 6:00. This is an important opportunity for parents and caregivers to meet your child’s teacher, learn about the class schedule, routines, and expectations, and find out how you can get involved and support your child’s learning this year. Parents and caregivers representing Parent Engagement and Affinity Groups will be available before 6:00 to chat and answer questions, so please try to arrive a few minutes early.
Please note: this is an event for adults, there isn’t room in our classrooms to accommodate both adults and children, and the teachers’ presentations will be designed for adults.
The PTA is sponsoring childcare during Back to School Night. Complete this form: https://forms.gle/xoTkUp2Pohh3iHAb7 to secure your spot today. Pizza will be provided for dinner. Limited Space is available, sign up today! Again, this is an adults-only event. Children must either attend childcare in the MPR or stay home.
Thanks for helping us make Back to School Night a success!
Reminders for families that drive to school:
Students should be dropped off along the passenger loading zones on Cornell Ave. and Talbot Ave. These loading zones are for active passenger loading/unloading only. Vehicles should not be left unattended in these zones.
Never drop off children on the opposite side of the street from the school. Northbound drivers use Cornell Ave; southbound drivers use Talbot Ave.
Never allow your child to exit a car that is stopped in traffic or parked illegally.
Never turn around mid-block.
Please help us keep your children safe!
Finally, if you send a home lunch to school with your child, please remind them that we do not share food at school. Every child should eat their own lunch. In addition, we ask for your partnership in sending healthy food to school with your child, to help them maintain their energy and focus for learning. And please remember that candy is not allowed in AUSD schools.
Warmly,
Jen
