Week One Went Wonderfully
Dear Albany Community,
It was such a joy to see so many smiles on students’ faces this week as they reunited with friends and met their new teachers. From our youngest learners to our new Albany High seniors, I hope your children had a great start to the year. Across all our schools, students were welcomed and cared for, creating a safe and supportive environment that makes learning possible. Above, see a Transitional Kindergarten student start her very first day with a huge smile and a happy kick. A huge thank you to our teachers and staff for the energy, warmth, and preparation they brought to this first week.
Allergy Plan & Volunteer Process
Earlier today we sent out a message with the 2025–26 Allergy Plan and updates to the AUSD Volunteer Process. Please take a look at these important updates.
Safe and Smooth Starts
One area we want to keep improving together is morning drop-off. Over the spring and summer, AUSD partnered with the City of Albany to improve loading zones. Walking, biking, and scootering are always great options; they give students exercise and a positive transition into the day.
What Drivers Need to Know
For those who need to drive, please remember:
- Loading zones are for quick drop-offs only—no more than three minutes —and drivers should remain with their cars.
- Zones were repainted and extended at AMS, Cornell, and Marin.
- At Cornell, a new green zone allows TK families to park briefly (15 minutes) and walk their child into the gated playground.
- We ask that families only use designated visitor parking areas and not block driveways or staff lots.
Making drop-off quick, safe, and smooth takes all of us. With cooperation, we can make mornings easier for families and safer for kids.
Household Income Forms
Families who meet specific income guidelines may be eligible for helpful benefits, including reduced or no-cost after-school programs such as AUSD’s Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP). Additionally, eligible 11th- and 12th-grade students can receive fee waivers for AP and SAT exams, as well as college applications. While the optional income questions in our annual data confirmation process are essential for school funding, they do not determine eligibility for all available benefits. Sports With Honor
Albany High School was one of 45 out of 172 schools in the North Coast Section to be acknowledged for "No Ejections" during the entire 2024–25 sports year. This is an important recognition of our students for their outstanding sportsmanship and our coaches for excellent mentoring and leadership.

La primera semana fue maravillosa
Estimada comunidad de Albany:
Fue una alegría ver tantas sonrisas en los rostros de los estudiantes esta semana al reunirse con sus amigos y conocer a sus nuevos maestros. Desde nuestros alumnos más pequeños hasta los nuevos estudiantes de último año de Albany High, espero que sus hijos hayan tenido un excelente comienzo de año. En todas nuestras escuelas, los estudiantes fueron bien recibidos y atendidos, creando un ambiente seguro y de apoyo que facilita el aprendizaje. Arriba, vean a una estudiante de kínder de transición comenzar su primer día con una gran sonrisa y una patada de alegría. Muchísimas gracias a nuestros maestros y personal por la energía, la calidez y la preparación que aportaron a esta primera semana.

Arranques seguros y suaves
Un área que queremos seguir mejorando juntos es la entrega matutina de los niños. Durante la primavera y el verano, AUSD colaboró con la ciudad de Albany para mejorar las zonas de carga y descarga. Caminar, andar en bicicleta y patinete siempre son excelentes opciones; les brindan a los estudiantes ejercicio y una transición positiva al día.

Deportes con honor
