Dear Albany Community,
Our schools have a constant stream of special days and events for students. Yesterday was the AMS Spring Soiree, Cornell had their popular Fun Fitness Day last weekend, and about a third of Ocean View families came to a packed Family Math Night on Tuesday. Last Friday, Marin celebrated their fifth graders with a special Movie Night. Thursday was National Poem In Your Pocket Day and elementary librarians had tiny poems to distribute to students. These events build community among our students and families, which is a rare and precious commodity these days.
Tomorrow, Saturday, April 20, we have another special event, the AUSD Choir Festival on the Albany High School entrance steps. The program progresses from elementary to the AMS and AHS choir groups, and ends with a grand finale of all choirs singing together. This is a lovely family activity. Key Route Blvd. will be blocked off to vehicles so that everyone can bring lawn chairs, blankets, and maybe a picnic. Let’s gather as a community and enjoy our students’ voices!
Albany Music Fund Needs Your Help!
Through donations from families like yours, Albany Music Fund (AMF) provides all materials, instruments, festival fees, and transportation for our school district’s TK–12th-grade music programs. Albany Music Fund is currently facing a shortfall as the expenses for transportation and music repair have been unexpectedly high. Please take a moment to donate. Annual Funding Priorities Survey
Staff, parents/guardians, and secondary students received an invitation to participate in our annual funding priorities survey. I hope you will participate, as community feedback is absolutely crucial for distributing the available funding between several areas of need. The State of California mandated that all school districts heed community input and that districts need to show how they are complying to community priorities in our Local Control Accountability Plan. Please take the 5-minute survey at this link, so that your schools can be responsive to local priorities.
Walk & Roll To School Next Wednesday, April 24
AUSD values the environment and our students’ health. These values intersect when students are able to use any form of active transportation to get to and from school. Next Wednesday, April 24, is our spring Walk & Roll To School Day. It’s important because we tally modes of transportation on this day, which allows us to measure progress toward our active transportation goals. Not everyone can walk, bike, or scooter to school—if you can, it adds healthful exercise into your day and reduces traffic. Join us next Wednesday!
Note: There will not be a Community Update next week, Friday, April 26. My next Update will be on Friday, May 3.

Festival de Coros, Fondo de Música de Albany, Encuesta Anual de Prioridades de Financiamiento y Día de Caminar y Rodar a la Escuela
Querida comunidad de Albany,
Nuestras escuelas tienen un flujo constante de días y eventos especiales para los estudiantes. Ayer fue la velada de primavera de AMS, Cornell tuvo su popular Día de ejercicio físico el fin de semana pasado y aproximadamente un tercio de las familias de Ocean View asistieron a una noche familiar de matemáticas repleta el martes. El viernes pasado, Marin celebró a sus alumnos de quinto grado con una Noche de Cine especial. El jueves fue el Día Nacional del Poema en tu bolsillo y los bibliotecarios de primaria tenían pequeños poemas para distribuir a los estudiantes. Estos eventos construyen una comunidad entre nuestros estudiantes y familias, lo cual es un bien escaso y preciado en estos días.
Mañana, sábado 20 de abril, tendremos otro evento especial, el Festival de Coros del AUSD en los escalones de entrada de la Escuela Secundaria Albany. El programa avanza desde la primaria hasta los grupos corales de AMS y AHS, y termina con un gran final de todos los coros cantando juntos. Esta es una encantadora actividad familiar. Ruta clave Blvd. estará bloqueado para los vehículos para que todos puedan traer sillas de jardín, mantas y tal vez un picnic. ¡Reunámonos como comunidad y disfrutemos de las voces de nuestros estudiantes!

私たちの学校では、生徒のための特別な日やイベントが絶えず開催されています。昨日は AMS の春の夜会、先週末はコーネル大学で人気の楽しいフィットネス デー、火曜日にはオーシャン ビューの約 3 分の 1 の家族が満員のファミリー数学ナイトに参加しました。先週の金曜日には、マリン大学で 5 年生を祝って特別な映画ナイトが開かれました。木曜日は全国ポケット詩の日で、小学校の司書が生徒に小さな詩を配布しました。これらのイベントは、今日では珍しく貴重な財産である生徒と家族の間にコミュニティを築くものです。
明日、4 月 20 日土曜日には、アルバニー高校の入り口階段で、もう 1 つの特別なイベント、AUSD 合唱祭が開催されます。プログラムは、小学生から AMS と AHS の合唱団へと進み、最後にすべての合唱団が一緒に歌うグランド フィナーレで終わります。これは家族で楽しめる素敵なアクティビティです。Key Route Blvd. は車両通行止めとなるため、誰もが芝生の椅子や毛布、ピクニック用品を持ち込むことができます。コミュニティとして集まり、生徒たちの歌声を楽しみましょう。
