Dear Albany Community,
This fall, some of Albany’s fifth graders braved a rigorous audition to try out for the Organization of American Kodály Educators Children’s National Honor Choir. This was an extracurricular activity, not sponsored by AUSD, that falls into their personal time. I first want to applaud all of the students who auditioned. It is not easy, especially at a young age, to prepare for and perform an audition. You have reason to be proud!
Next, I want to congratulate the six students who received invitations to join the choir. These students may go to Chicago in March 2024 and perform at the 50th Annual Organization of American Kodály Educators Conference, an organization that promotes music education of the highest quality, universal music literacy and lifelong music making. These young singers are Linya Bao (Cornell); Tessa Legrand, Willa Myers, and Zara Sanchez (Marin); and Ananya Dandina and Marco Serna (Ocean View). Congratulations to you all!
Tomorrow Is Veterans Day
Friday, November 10, is Veterans Day, a national holiday. All schools and offices will be closed. Please take a moment on this day to reflect and appreciate the contributions of our veterans.

Querida comunidad de Albany,
Este otoño, algunos de los estudiantes de quinto grado de Albany desafiaron una rigurosa audición para participar en el Coro Nacional de Honor Infantil de la Organización Estadounidense de Educadores Kodály .
