Happy Halloween! Elementary schools will be having their traditional costume parades next Tuesday, October 31. Look at your school newsletter for details. The City of Albany sponsors activities along Solano Avenue before dark, beginning with Trick-or-Treating at most stores and offices between 3 and 5pm and finishing with a costume contest at Solano Peralta Park at 5pm.
AUSD Budget Corner
Although AUSD is one of the lowest-funded districts, well below the state average, our student performance is high. The ability of the District to maintain excellence is at risk if additional revenue is not obtained. That was one of the important messages from the Budget Corner presentation at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting. Watch the presentation here, or view the slides.
November is Native American Heritage Month
Also at Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, November was recognized as Native American Heritage Month with this Resolution. You may not realize that City of Albany recognizes the Confederated Villages of Lisjan by flying their flag
permanently at City Hall.
Join the Student Achievement Committee!
The Student Achievement Committee actively engages with our community and meets regularly to address ongoing issues and challenges related to student achievement. The committee reviews student achievement and wellness metrics and recommends strategies to close equity and opportunity gaps. Visit the Committee webpage to find out more and apply. There is also a seat for an elementary parent/guardian on the Board Policy Committee, visit the link for more information and to apply. The deadline to submit applications for these vacancies is November 10, 2023 at 5:00pm. Applications will be taken to the Board of Education for their consideration beginning November 14, 2023.
