Dear Albany Community,
All this week, promotion ceremonies have been held, and they have been marvelous. Tonight I will be at the high school graduation showing my pride in our graduating seniors.
Congressional Art Award Winner and AHS Art Slideshow
Albany Unified has incredible student artists. Special congratulations to Mia Hu who won the fine art award for our congressional district! She will be flown to Washington, D.C. for a ceremony and her work will hang in the Capitol building for a year. If you did not get a chance to see the high school art show at Albany High or at the Abrams Claghorn Gallery, you can view a selection of pieces here, including Mia’s winning piece. The students’ work vividly illustrates their world, and both challenges you and makes your heart ache. I am amazed by their talent.
Swim Lessons At the Albany Pool!
The Albany Aquatic Center is re-launching their popular swim lesson program! Swim lessons are fun, essential for water safety, and are a great summer activity. Find out more at AAC Swim Lessons. Have your kids learn to swim this summer!
Superintendent’s Safety Committee
In the fall, I will convene a committee to discuss and address safety concerns in and around the school district. Members will consist of Board Trustees, administrators, staff, parents/guardians, and students. Please consider being a part of this important group. More information on this and how to join will be sent out later this summer.
