Masking, Music, and Juneteenth Celebration
Dear Albany Community,
As you may know, the Bay Area now has California's highest COVID infection rate. AUSD has had a higher number of cases each week than we did before Spring Break. Bay Area health officials have stressed the importance of taking safety precautions, including continued masking indoors using high-quality masks. As a reminder, the District strongly recommends that students continue to wear masks indoors to keep all our students, staff and families as safe as possible. High-quality masks continue to be available for all students at each school site. It is also very important that any student who feels sick should stay home and get tested. Thank you for doing your part to keep our students, staff, and families safe and healthy.
Also, in breaking news, The Food and Drug Administration authorized booster shots of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine this week for children ages 5 to 11. Please consider getting your child(ren) boosted!
Albany’s Jazz Musicians
On Monday night I went to Yoshi’s Jazz Club in Oakland to see the Albany Middle and High School Jazz Ensembles perform. Although I expected a fine student show, I was stunned. They electrified the entire club with a performance that surpassed all expectations. These young musicians gave a rocking show of professional quality! I honor them for their hard work, and their teachers for their musical education. It was a night I will remember, and reminded me why Albany is such a desirable district.
Reminder about Graduation and Promotion Events

Juneteenth Celebration
On June 19, Albany will have its second annual Celebration of Juneteenth, a holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. There will be live music from numerous local groups, a DJ, dancing, food, vendors, craft fair, and art show. See the flyer for more information. Come and celebrate! All are welcome. The school board will be presenting a resolution recognizing the Juneteenth holiday at their June 14 meeting.

máscaras, música y celebración del 16 de junio
Estimada comunidad de Albany,

Músicos de jazz de Albany
El lunes por la noche fui al Yoshi's Jazz Club en Oakland para ver la actuación de los Conjuntos de Jazz de la Escuela Secundaria y Secundaria de Albany. Aunque esperaba un buen espectáculo estudiantil, me quedé atónito. Electrificaron a todo el club con una actuación que superó todas las expectativas. ¡Estos jóvenes músicos dieron un espectáculo rockero de calidad profesional! Los honro por su arduo trabajo y a sus maestros por su educación musical. Fue una noche que recordaré y me recordó por qué Albany es un distrito tan deseable.

奥尔巴尼爵士音乐家
